Labels and context

A short guide to the category, the catalogue and the limits of a thin public record.

What a category label means

The label female performer working in straight adult films is used by publishers and indexes to place a performer in a catalogue section. It is a commercial description, not a statement about identity or private life.

Readers should treat the label as a finding aid. It helps locate releases, but it does not explain a career, and it should not be used to make claims that the performer has not made.

How counts are made

A scene count, a title count and a compilation count can all describe the same body of work. The differences come from the unit being counted and from the way an index treats reissues.

This page avoids a single total because a total without a method is misleading. The catalogue is presented as a trail of named pages, and each page can be checked in turn.

Source page versus biography

A source page exists to sell or index a release. A biography exists to explain a life. The two kinds of page answer different questions, and a thin record often has the first without the second.

This profile uses the source page for what it can establish and stops at the edge of the documents. The missing material is named rather than invented, which is the only responsible way to present a thin record.
